The last part was about the next revolutionary product.
Don't think they will be complacent, but most likely without Steve Jobs they'll have a harder time.
As far as complaining about C2D, MBP res, etc. , add Blue Ray that's never an issue for me.
I don't buy any Apple product until I check out it's what I want or it's close enough to jump.
I was on the sidelines until 3rd gen ipod, on the sidelines until MBP's fell into my price range ( I like to buy one generation back), and currently on the sidelines until ipad 3 or 4 as well as iphone 5 or 6.
Good things come to those who wait. (I am from a generation that can wait without withdrawal symptoms)

I just want other companies to succeed, if only to make my Apple products that much better. For instance, Id love to see the iP5 have a 4inch screen (im sure many disagree)...that could be a possibility because of some HTC success (Evo, Inspire...etc). The main reason that it will never happen -> they never will charge the gas by the liter, they want to keep it by the gallon...and continue increasing the price, if they change to the liters...a lot of people will be confused and start to complaint and blame the price increases on the metric system...wait they may want to use it as a smoke flare....hum,....:confused:

Re: movie store - Whatever the final product is, Apple's engineers have spent a lot more time thinking about it than we have in these forums.
More than anything, Apple focuses much more the on the customer's experience so I have faith that the final result will be elegant and work.

Apple's problem is that they put "Looks" before performance.
They crippled their chances of ever becoming a serious competitor to the PC for games due to deciding to use giant laptops on a stand which meant they could not cool any decent graphics cards, handing the gaming crown to the PC for years on a plate.
As for the future who knows.
And today they are the Gold Standard for consumer tech.
OS X runs very well on Apple hardware. OS X apps run very well on Apple hardware. Not sure what the problem with performance is.
Those "laptops on a stand" are selling in record numbers while the rest of the computer industry is in a sharp downturn.
They've got the future of gaming all locked up nice and tight on iOS, not on PCs as we know them but on mobile devices which keep getting more powerful and which as we know, are the future of computing.

That's why the 2GHz Merom MacBook will be such a strategicly positioned superior product for the money and why the mini will still be crippled even when it switches to C2D at the same speeds. 2.33GHz is only 16.5% faster - not so much that you would even notice most of the time.
Only reason Merom MBP may not be announced tomorrow is for marketing reasons - not because it isn't ready. While they continue to manufacture them and build up a large inventory, we may have to endure these other product announcements so Apple can get all the heat focused on them until later this month when they can have the new MBP deployed worldwide in large quantities and be able to say "on sale today." and "Let the feeding frenzy begin."
On the other hand, because of Apple-Expo Paris, I think the MBP still has a better than 50% chance of being introduced tomorrow. Three years ago they introduced the revoluitonary Aluminium 15" PowerMac G4's @1.25GHz with USB 2 and FW 800 for the first time in a mobile Mac. I bought one a month later when Panther was introduced.

If Intel really can start shipping merom by early August...WWDC would be a perfectly fine place to introduce new MacBook Pros. But I doubt they'll be ready that early.

As for having a feel for the numbers, he's not alone. I have nearly 20 years of professional experience using Imperial units as a mechanical engineer, as does every mechanical engineer in the U.S. Switching systems (or, rather, making it mandatory) will require all of these engineers to re-learn the formulae they've known and used for decades. That's the equivalent of millions of man-years of engineering experience down the drain. That isn't progress, no matter how much you might want want to believe it is.

I'm skeptical about any of Apple's "cloud" offerings. They don't do it well at all. Apple is an OS-App-Based company. They have NEVER done anything leveraging the "cloud" well at all. Many, many companies out there run circles around Apple when it comes to the "cloud"....>cough< Dropbox >cough<. I would be surprised (pleasantly) if MobileMe did not have a fee. If they are beefing it up to be "magical" you better believe there will be a fee for that magic! I'd like to see something that blows everyone away. I'm just not counting on it.

Some of what you mention sounds cool... but I've never Jail Broke my iPhone and it runs just fine - far from unusable. Nice that you love all the mods, but it's not for everyone. No need to insult those who choose not to JB.
I mean a car from 20 years ago runs fine if you haven't driven any other car. The internet from 10 years ago would be fine if you had never experienced todays broadband. Hell life as a virgin would be cool if you didn't know what sex was.

Apple COULD have released quad G5 3ghz instead, but they want us to use Intel.
The whole Intel project is beacuse of no G5 laptop.
Stupid IBM. I do not like X86, the play plattform.
But, I have changed all my PPC macs to Intel now.
Macbook pro, Macbook, macmini and today a Macpro.Congrats on making the shift. I will probably wait for 8 cores. But I am tempted because of the 6 Bays and the additional front ports. Maybe I'll get a refurb in the Fall. Still want a Core 2 MBP more I guess. Really want 8 cores. Might just hold out until Spring so Leopard is inside 8 cores. Love Leopard features. :)

I found the sound quality when playing music from the Tomtom car kit (as compared to a cable running from the headphone jack to the aux port) to be a bit improved. I think you get the equivalent of line out via the car kit, which is a slightly different signal from the headphone signal.
My car stereo is nothing special, though, so others might be able to provide a more detailed comparison.

reason for asking: when i use a standard audio cable from the headphone output of my iphone into my car's aux in, the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. i basically have to crank up the volume all the way on both my car system and the iphone to hear anything, and even what i hear isn't all that great.

Seems about right :) iPhone 4S (or something similiar) I think it'll be called. Not iPhone 5. I think this will be the name of the 2012 iPhone :)

My android was doing my head in, & having heard the rumors that the new iPhone wouldn't be out till later than usual, I decided to just pass on iPhone this year :)
I will be keeping an eye on iOS & the iPhone :) I can't wait to see the new iPhone and iOS 5, but iPhone 2012 and iOS 6 is where it is for me :) so excited :D It'll be 2 Major OS updates worth & a whole new design (i hope :D)

That's right, I'm a customer, and I'll modify my apple device how I see fit, and that including jailbreaking, enabling XCode to develop applications for my device without paying apple $99 ( afterall,nothing is going to reach the appstore - so why does Apple deserve the $99 ?). At the end of the day - a JB device is more useful than a locked up device.
LOL! Did the policy change? iOS dev kit was free and the $99 was if you wanted to join the developers program. Either way... $99 to join a developers program is cheap. Yeah... not free... but not $1500 or more like many other companies who have developer programs.
And yes, you do have your "right" to modify your iPhone as you see fit. But I have to agree with Apple on this one... encouraging people to JB for a silly and ugly Scion theme is not good commercial business. What they should say is "Void your Apple warrantee and install our ugly Scion theme". No company should encourage the public to do things that will bust their warrantee and Apple has the rights to "put the brakes" on this Toyota. :D
