I stopped at the Apple store this morning and tried out the 24 inch iMac and the Mac Pro. These are sweet machines. No did not buy anything.
Is the 24" as quiet as the MacPro? Have you been able to compare to the 20"?

I bet it's somewhere in the ToC that none of us read.
Are you sure? Cause people are claiming that its not in the ToS/ToC.

these obviosly gonna be optimizd for the full screen ipod, whats wrong with avi format anyway.
The fact that it isn't a "format," for starters.
$10 ~ $15, if that is the price for anything below a 720p encoding of a movie, would be the stupidest thing that Apple has done. (Well, at least in the last 10 years or so.)
If they do 720p encodes - and that would have to be the minimum, as they really should be 1080p - then they might have something worthwhile. The problem is, this will totally clash with the move to Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, so being realistic, my guess would be 480p encodes. Which, of course, then makes purchasing movies this way versus DVD a really stupid decision (IMHO).
I'd love to see Apple get this right, but... I'm really not holding my breath.

How about the whole incident being avoided by people being honest and working for what you want. In this case no robbery, no need for a guard, no guns, no death. Ideally we shouldn't need locks on our doors or guards in the first place (unrealistic I know).
I do think most people are good though. My local Apple store had a door lock malfunction one morning and a dozen people were inside roaming around looking at things before management came to open the store. Nothing was stolen.

Wonder how long this item will remain here...the one on Engadget managed about 7 minutes. ;)
Look at the latest thread. The haters act as if they are going to shoot Vlad Savov (Engadget) for removing that article.
lol
On a serious note, I need an explanation for this.

Imagine how long the download would be if the movie was high def instead of 640 x 480.
Probably not quite as long as you might think. Less than 3x longer for 720p or 1080i, <6x longer for 1080p.

I would love to have a red iPod, but I don't know why we would ever give money to help fight AIDS on a continent where the people take NO precautions to prevent themselves from getting AIDS... I mean, sure many children are born with it in Africa, but for soooo many adults, they could prevent the spread if they would just be monogamous.
So there, I solved AIDS for free, no Oprah, no Bono, no Ipods. Just have sex only within a lifetime committed relationship and AIDS is all but gone in one generation!
I'll stick to my black aluminum iPod nano, anyhow. I just hope 10% of the proceeds didn't go to research finding cures for the black plague... or frostbite...
It makes me so happy to know that there are still plenty of stupid people in the world.
Thank you

I've had serious plans for starting to develop software for the iPhone, as an experienced software developer. I've considered buying the latest iMac version for improved performance and a bigger screen than on my 13" MacBook. But I've changed my mind. Why develop for a platform with a defect application approval process? I don't want all that frustration. I'll probably develop for the Android instead. The iPhone is still the best platform but Apple sucks. Period.

Yes an OS issue.
http://www.math.purdue.edu/~abarreno/affinitydlg.gifWow so if that's in XP already it's gotta be a feature in Leopard.
You call that Application Core Affinity or what's the correct full termonology? And where in the OS do you choose the applications to assign x number of cores with that dialog box. Looks like they're ready for a lot of cores coming up?!?!
32. I'd say that's planning ahead.
Are we hijacking this thread? Don't mean to go so far Off Topic folks. :D

By definition, 10MP phone cannot be as grainy as a 3MP phone. You do realize when someone says 10MegaPixel phone what they mean right?.
10 million pixels per square inch (before the tech police come out, this is a basic definition. I am aware an image does not have to be a square).
its not 10 million pixels per square inch. 10 million pixels is the overall size of the image ie x by y, at about 150-300 dpi, i think, but its defo not 10mp per inch^2
but anything above 3-5 mp in a phone becomes a useless waste because the sensor is stupid small.

Well, it wasn't just this lawsuit. Five lawsuits were settled @ $20M a suit + no distractions of dragging this out... Plus they now are paid up FOREVER to use this license + they could recoup some money if Licenses are granted to others... doesn't sound as drastic as $100M is suddenly down the toilet. There's some value there for Apple. Apple appears even to be booking the license as an asset on their balance (http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/174096756/m/560002960831?r=945004960831#945004960831) sheet and hence the cost of it will be amortized overtime (asset depreciation).

Enough with the dance. Release the product already.
Every cell phone on the market sucks in some way. I'd love to have an Apple phone which simply just works.

*Shrug* It is probably a feature enabled on the majority of GSM carriers for statistical purposes. Again, I don't see the problem. If this information is used to improve my network coverage, why should I care? If I'm not part of a secret terrorist cell, I don't see how my life is being negatively impacted by this information especially if it does not have any identifiable information attached to it.
Apparently this feature is not enabled on Verizon phones.
No one was insinuating you were a terrorist so chill, ok?:D
Out of interest, what makes you think its to improve cell coverage? Why is it recording wifi access point names, locations and MAC addresses if that is the case?
If you haven't yet, watch the video. It's quite informative of what is being recorded.

Sad, but true :(
(And I don't feel the need to argue or debate or say more in this thread to justify this obvious fact.)
Too bad you don't feel the need to learn the facts either. Just where are these viruses going to come from? How will they get executed/installed? Answer: They will not come because they can't execute. That's what a walled garden is: protection from the wild.

The normal reaction... Counter lawsuit, however Samsung will have a hard time justifying it given it's "deep" knowledge of Apple products to which it provides displays...
